Mentorship Program

The Oncology Nutrition DPG is proud to announce our new Mentorship Program! We have revamped the program to increase access to mentorship opportunities for our members. Our program now includes three different options for mentorship:

• Casual - Use the Mentor Discussion Board to post a mentorship related question appropriate for a quick response; experienced ON DPG members will provide feedback. If you want to be on this discussion board, you can join here. This is just a space to get a quick response with a succinct answer to a question; no mentor-mentee relationship is established.

• Informal – We started the informal program in response to feedback that access to participation was a barrier. Through the informal program, you can select a mentor from a list of available DPG members. ON DPG Mentors are available for one-on-one calls with mentees as their schedules allow. Calls are scheduled at the convenience of the mentor and will last for 20 minutes. Frequency of contact and duration of the partnership is intended to be short-term.

• Formal - The Formal Mentorship program is a traditional, more structured program. The ON DPG Mentorship Coordinators will select a mentor for you based on your application. The application process helps you identify a specific goal or goals to achieve at the completion of the program. Frequency of contact and duration of the partnership are established at the onset of the mentorship time period; the mentorship cycle can last up to six months and can be continued for an additional cycle upon mutual agreement of the mentor and mentees. The ON DPG Mentorship Program coordinators help guide the partnership and provide assistance as needed.
