Barbara Grant, MS, RDN, CSO, FAND, oncology registered dietitian nutritionist at St. Alphonsus Cancer Care Center in Boise, Idaho, and the Academy's liaison to the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer, has been invited to serve as one of four CoC workgroup chairs.
The CoC is conducting an in depth review of all of their existing program eligibility requirements (12 Eligibility Requirements) and all of their 23 program standards. Barbara will chair the Eligibility Requirements (ERs) workgroup.
ERs are considered the foundation for all CoC-accredited programs. They include the basic structure and services that are required of all cancer programs before an accreditation survey is undertaken and must be documented annually, once an accredited program.
The American College of Surgeons hopes to have it completed in one year.
