  • Electronic Mailing List (EML) has over 530 active members, with average 350 messages/month.
  • Website www.oncologynutrition.org continues to provide resources, networking, products for members and the public. New PowerPoint presentations were added this past year as well as PowerPoint slides that are shared among members. For the second year in a row Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database (NMCD) is a valued resource available on our website.
  • Five practice based Special Interest Groups (SIGs) provided networking and specialty practice material and projects: Hospice/palliative care, Pediatric, Survivorship, Prevention, Complementary, and Integrative Care. The EC and Board made a decision at the April Mid-Year Meeting to dissolve the SIG practice groups in an effort to align interested members with “projects” with defined working goals.
  • E-blast announcements provided 20 beneficial updates, alerts and announcements to members via email.
  • The ON DPG coordinated two sessions at FNCE Boston: Priority session entitled "Folic Acid: Friend or Foe?” presented by Young-In Kim, MD, FRCP and Gail Kaulwell, PhD, RD, LD/N
    General session entitled "Diet, Physical Activity and Genetics: Energy Balance for Fighting Breast Cancer" presented by Wendy Demark-Wahnefried, PhD, RD and Jennifer Ligibel, MD

Alliances/Networks

  • ADA alliance: American College of Surgeons-Commission on Cancer (CoC). Kathryn Hamilton, MA, RD, CSO, CDN was assigned by ADA and ON DPG as CoC representative in 2010.
  • ON DPG Network (to provide informal communication opportunity) between a DPG and another organization continued with the following organizations:

  • National Cancer Institute (NCI)
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)

The ON DPG provides specialized oncology nutrition publications and continues work on future publications to educate members.

  • Connie San Andres-Robles Distinguished ON DPG Service Award for 2010 was presented to ON DPG member and EML Chair, Dianne Kiyomoto, RD, CSO.
  • The Distinguished ON DPG Practice Award for 2010 was presented to Heidi Ganzer RD, CSO, LD.
  • The 2010 ON DPG Awards of Excellence in Oncology Nutrition Research was presented to Teresa Fung,LDN RD.

Member Services

Revenues $84,496 (includes $26,268 interest, $5,000 grants/contracts, $4,923 royalties and $48,305 membership dues)

- CSO (Certified Specialist Oncology) board certification exams were held by CDR in September and March. There are currently 427 CSO RDs representing 49 states and Canada.
